SEATTLE — A week before Christmas, a thief broke into Safeco Field’s museum and stole bags of jerseys, bats and other gear, including items from the 1947 Vancouver Capilanos and a baseball used at a Vancouver Beavers championship game in 1908. Media attention of the theft and the thieves widespread fingerprints led to the recovery of the items. A suspect was arrested Dec. 19. Among the contents in the bags were jerseys and bats used by Mariners greats Edgar Martinez and caps worn by Ken Griffey, Jr. The items were owned by David Eskenazi of Seattle.
