DALLAS — The “Last Out” ball from the 1986 World Series from the Gary Carter Collection is among the items available through Heritage Auctions in a sale closing Nov. 19. The notation on the ball reads, “Jesse Orosco struck out Marty Barrett to make The Mets the World Champions in Shea Stadium. Final score 8-5. Mets in 7 Games.” It’s signed by Orosco and Gary Carter.
Other items from the Carter Collection are the Hall of Fame catcher’s 1980 Gold Glove Award, his “KID” bracelet; his 1983 All-Star Game ring; an early 1980s catcher’s mitt; a game-worn road Mets jersey from 1985; a 1969 George Sosnak folk art ball commemorating presidential openers in Washington, from Taft to Nixon; and a 1982 Johnny Bench game-worn and signed Reds home jersey.
