Babe Ruth Day ball: $28,159

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A ball from Babe Ruth Day in Syracuse, N.Y., on July 6, 1938, signed by Ruth on the Sweet Spot, sold for $28,159 on March 29 at a sale organized by Iconic Auctions. The auction also featured a Michael Jordan home Bulls jersey purportedly from the 1998 NBA Finals, which sold for $9,424.

Among other items in the sale were:

  • A Ruth-signed contract with NBC Radio from 1943 for $6,996;
  • A ball signed by Mickey Mantle on the Sweet Spot and Roger Maris on the side panel for $6,831;
  • A team-signed ball from 1931 Yankees, with 27 signatures, including Ruth and Gehrig on the Sweet Spot, for $6,359.
